Reconnecting with Your Body for True Freedom

As I sat in meditation with my body this morning, it asked me to share these words with you…

I wrestled with disordered eating from the tender age of ten until my early thirties. Looking to soothe myself from the harshness of the world around me, I used food as an ally to find comfort from the chaos of the storm swirling outside me, and the one within.

Body image dysmorphia began in my early teens and kept me hostage for decades. On a daily basis, mentally, emotionally and physically, I wished I could be someone else other than the misguided soul that was me.

There are many beautiful teachings that have supported me on my journey of reconnecting with myself and my body such as EMDR, somatic therapy, meditation, yoga, breath work, energy medicine, and Shamanic Mythology to name only a few, yet a special kind of magic happened when I began to understand my body as its own intelligent, magnificent BEING.

What if I told you that connecting with your body is actually the path to the freedom you seek? How would your life be different if you saw your body as your friend, your mentor, your spiritual guide? A partner to work WITH, not against?

The human body has been evolving for hundreds of thousands of years. It is a divine creature and creation from the joint love of the Universe and the Earth, that offers to host us for our lifetime. It carries its own divine intelligence on how to move through the world, how to connect to the planet and each other, how to be spiritual and align with the Source of all life, yet we have forgotten how to be in relationship with this incredibly wise, nurturing and magical vessel.

Even though the body carries this deep wisdom, it also carries the evolutionary patterns and programs of survival from our ancestors within our DNA, that misinform the body about our current circumstances. Not only this, some of us have also had upbringings that caused our bodies to create a disconnection within us to protect us from the harm we experienced.

Sweet one, these are acts of love by the body, ensuring the survival of your soul for this lifetime and for others, yet if we are not taught how to navigate and correct these experiences, we are left feeling alienated and cut off from the very vehicle that is sustaining our soul’s existence.

This leaves a lot of us focusing our efforts on trying to escape our bodies, yet my love, the very reason your soul chose to come to Earth is to experience life from inside this wonderful creation and to help it continue to EVOLVE. And ultimately, it connects us to one another.

We are here to partner WITH our body and teach it that there is a new way of being. That life is ever changing and that we are moving into a new world, a new era. That war and hunger and greed and poverty are no longer the path forward, because what affects one of us, affects all of us. The time of our disconnection has to end so that we can continue to thrive and move forward as a species. Interconnection, truth, support and abundance are your birthright.

The way forward is coming home to ourselves and remembering the precious gift that is your body. That it is the sacred temple that houses your soul. We are here to help humankind by learning to exist within, nurture and grow the being created by our true Mother, Mother Earth. We owe it to ourselves and our grandchildren’s grandchildren.
