Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the US. I was born in England and raised in the Bahamas so I did not celebrate Thanksgiving until I was 15 years old. I was attending high school in Florida and my new best friend invited me to her house for the day. It was a wonderful time with her family and so many close friends that I continued to return to her parents house, year after year, for many years.
I fell in love with what this day meant to me and to all the people present. Not just the sharing of food, but the spilling over of love, of joy, of happiness. I carry these memories deep in my heart and endeavor to lean into all the love that surrounds me as a daily ritual, because practicing gratitude has changed my life. It connects me with what I most love in this life and is a constant reminder of all the goodness and beauty that surrounds me.
It is so easy to focus on what we don’t have, what is going wrong and what we want to be different, yet my beloved, I want to know… what do you LOVE? Big or small, what brings you joy? By cultivating gratitude in your heart you change the very vibration of your being, and open yourself to the love and abundance of the universe.
